Electronic resumes can pose their own set of challenges for job
seekers as well.
"It often doesn't look the same as a
paper copy, so I tell people who send electronic resumes to follow it up
with a paper copy or at least a fax," said Madeline Miller, who
owns and operates a national resume service in Binghamton, NY.
"If they don't have compatible software or printers, bullets may
come out as strange symbols or as squares. or sometimes a resume
that's one page comes out as two pages."
She keeps telling job seekers to use every means
available to contact potential employers: e-mail, telephone, mail and
fax.
"I tell them pushy is good."
